Mu Alpha Theta

What is MAO?

MAO, or Mu Alpha Theta, is a high school math honor society that competes in state-wide math competitions. The goal of Mu Alpha Theta is to encourage all Taylor students to improve their mathematical abilities, appreciate the power of mathematics, and enjoy the beauty of mathematics.

In order to be inducted into MAO, students must have completed Algebra I and Geometry and at least a 3.25 average in math courses. If any students are interested in joining MAO but have not completed Algebra I and Geometry, they are welcome to join CAM.

During the 2015-2016 school year, Patrick Taylor's Mu Alpha Theta club competed in eight competitions around the state, including the state convention. At state convention, the Patrick Taylor Hustle Team placed ninth, and eighth grader Andre Bourque placed first on the geometry individual test.

Anyone interested in joining MAO or going to competitions can contact either Ms. Kelley (kkelley@pftsta.jppss.k12.la.us) or Ms. Butler (kbutler@pftsta.jppss.k12.la.us).
