On November 5th, Key Clubbers participated in the Academy of our Lady Color Run, which benefited the organization Cleft for a Cause. The event saw a great turnout of students from multiple schools in the area. We started our morning with warmups before running a 3k around the AOL campus. The event ended with everyone gathering around to throw the remaining color powder in the air all at once. Our key clubbers had a super fun (and colorful) time! Animal Rescue New Orleans

On Saturday, September 10, 22 key clubbers volunteered At Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO). With this amazing turnout we were able to accomplish many tasks, from organizing shelves to cleaning various areas of the shelter to socializing with the shelter animals (which was certainly a volunteer favorite). We even formed an assembly line to unload a van full of cat & dog food. We ended our day of service with a casual dinner at Five Guys. Our volunteers had a blast, so this is definitely a project we hope to do again in the future. We also want to give a huge thanks to all of our key clubbers who volunteered that Saturday. Your dedication to community service is greatly appreciate Click here to go to the gallery for pictures from the event!

On August the 27th, out Key Club went to the annual Division Rally. Like every year, division rally kicks off the start of a new year of service. This year, the theme was To Service and Beyond. Everyone came in with space themed clothes. About 18 of us showed up! Granted, the rally was a week after our first meeting. We had many little activities to go to. I went to one about Key Club week and another on how to make dog toys. We were also reminded that Project Eliminate will continue this year. This is a very enjoyable event. The video above is made by our beloved Katalina “Kat” Nguyen. Click here to go to the gallery for pictures from the event!
Key Club Meeting #1
August 19, 2016 | Lindsey Moffett
Our first official Key Club meeting this year began with introducing the new co-advisor, Mrs. Hampton as well as our Kiwanian advisor, Mr. McCloskey. At the first meeting there was a total of 63 members. A pretty fantastic turn out! We were experiencing some projector problems but we pushed forward. We took a group photo (see above) to commemorate the new year. Jake then announced the Key Club Pledge and Sammy lead the Pledge of Allegiance or as Jake called it the "American Pledge." Jake, the president, talked about the basic principles and goals for Key Club and let the new members feel welcome. Next, we played an icebreaker, where each member pulled a question out of a bag, introduced themselves, and answered the question (Ex. What's your favorite color? How long have you been going to PFTSTA? etc.). Catherine and Jake spoke about Division Rally, the past forums, the space theme, costume contest, and poster. We hope to participate in many more events and service projects in the future!! :) Click here to see the full pic!
