The First Tech Challenge competition is a robotics competition for schools across the nation to compete in. One of the main concepts of the FTC competition is that of "gracious professionalism." This is the act of being courteous and professional to all of your teammates and other teams that you are competing against. The competition promotes gracious professionalism by giving points to teams which show outstanding gracious professionalism and pairing teams to work together in alliances.
First Tech Challenge is a robotics competition with a goal that changes every year. Each year, the robot must be tailored to help acomplish the presented challenge. In one season for example, the goal was to be able to climb a mountain and push debris out of the way. This prompts students to work together to solve any probelms that may arise, and use teamwork to drive the robot in the field. To win, your team must score more points than the other team by completing different tasks to earn points. These can include pushing blocks and balls into a zone to score points or triggering a mechanism to activate an event. All of these points are tallied up at the end of a match to decide a winner.
